I witnessed my mother's murder and my father's suicide at five years old. I went from a bright, confident kindergartener to a shell shocked trauma survivor overnight. The grandmother who cared for me in light of this tragedy rushed me into grief therapy immediately. It was during my therapy that I first experienced hypnosis.
I was first hypnotized at seven years old. One of the three therapists who helped me recover from the emotional trauma caused by the loss of my parents used hypnosis during our sessions. This sparked a life long belief in hypnosis as a healing modality.
I became a certified clinical hypnotherapist the year I turned thirty. I already had a B.A. in English (Creative Writing) but I knew I needed more. I wanted to make a significant contribution somehow. I was also a highly skilled and trained makeup artist with no interest in working in Hollywood. Many late night internet searches eventually led me to Life Purpose Institute in La Jolla, where I trained as a life coach, and Holmes Hypnotherapy in Los Angeles, where I earned my certification as a hypnotherapist.
I left Los Angeles for Alameda about as soon as I finished my studies. With plenty of time on my hands after selling a rental property I had inherited years prior, I relaxed into my new life without the daily responsibility of property management. I finally took the time to get to know me. Unfortunately this meant losing sight of hypnotherapy and life coachjng and embracing my new life as a party planner and publicist. While I had fun initially, I knew I needed more. I slowly started infusing my events with more esoteric elements, like tarot, in my quest to be more authentic and reach more people.
I gave birth to my daughter at the end of 2011. I had already begun to reclaim my life coaching and spiritual mentoring skills by giving readings and conducting healing sessions prior to giving birth. When I became a mom, I knew I wouldn't feel fulfilled if I continued on in Alameda/Oakland nightlife. I knew I needed to embody and promote a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
I began to slow down. I embraced hypnosis as a daily practice and I watched myself transform. My breathing became more mindful, as did my eating. I shed pounds and became more energetic. Now I want to share how I helped me, and inspire your transformations.
